I HATE YOU (1)

“Seat F-10”…. Silence followed.
“Prenika Kapoor”… Professor Mathur shouted again… only louder this time.
Alarmed by his loud and angry voice, I stood up while hiding my novel aside. Trying my best to put up an attentive expression “yes sir” I said.
Needless to say I didn’t know a word he taught in the lecture.
Hell what was the topic of the lecture. May be reading Nicholas spark was not a good idea. I thought to myself.
“So finally I have the honor of your attention miss. I hope I am not disturbing you from getting your beauty sleep. Am I“?
“Sorry sir”, was the most I could have uttered in front of those thousand humiliating starring eyes.
“Have you seen your last lab scores”?
And soon I knew I need to prepare myself for a good insulting session.
“Yes sir”.
“So when are you planning to study Prenika, or I wonder if you have planned to flunk in this semester”?
Excuse me, they weren’t that bad, were decent enough to make me pass at least. But Instead of voicing my thoughts I decided to stand embarrassed.
“Come to my cabin after this lecture. Sit down.”
And so my fate was sealed.
 …………………………………………………………………………………………………….........
“May I come in Sir”, I asked as I knocked on the cabin door.
“Come in”, he said while keeping his focus still on computer screen.
“I am sorry sir”, I said.
I wanted things to get over as soon as possible.
Just then he turned and said “hmm..Prenika, yes I was expecting you…..Tell me what should I do with you?”
I decided to stay quiet.
“Why you want to ruin your future. You are a capable student. I know there is much more in you than that you show. What is it about Prenika?”
While I kept thinking of some convincing lines that could help me bail out of the situation, someone knocked on the door.
“Sir Please may I”, a voice cried from behind.
I turned around just to ensure what I heard was not exactly what I thought.
“Come in, Vishal”, Sir merrily announced.
Now this was a waking nightmare. Getting insulted in front of the guy you hate the most on this planet.
Vishal was always a spoiled, rich, irritating, wide mouth for me. Who knew nothing but flirting, and to my surprise his “GHATIYA TRICKS” somehow always worked with girls. In fact my very own friends use to remain amused of him. The only thing I never understood was how he scored so well in every test?
“He will be your new lab partner.” Professor Mathur declared.
“What but why?” All I could mutter in such a state of shock.
“Sir this is completely insane. I will not be able to work with him.”
“Why? What is wrong with Vishal? He is okay with you. ”
“Sir, I promise I will score better. I will work hard. Spare me this time.”
“Stop arguing Prenika.” Professor Mathur shouted. “I don’t have time for all this. Be thankful for saving you and giving you a partner like Vishal so that you can score better. I don’t want any student to flunk in my subject. I don’t want to hear a word more from you, leave now.”
Reading Nicholas Spark was definitely not a good idea.

Ice Skating

As temperature continue to drop across the country, all I want to do is to roll down under my blanket (lazy me :D). In fact, I won’t mind a hot cup of coffee and some great movies.

But just in case if you already bored doing the same and want to experience little adventure this season. How about ICE SKATING???

Don’t you love watching all those spins, jumps and footwork of ice skaters on your television sets????
All of that poise and elegance?

Well if the answer is yes to all above question… then my friend you are well on time….. Because every year ice skating club of Shimla organizes the “ICE SKATING CARNIVAL”, which usually begins in the start of December and goes on till the end of February. Shimla has the largest ice skating rink in South Asia. It is also the only natural ice skating rink of India.

The cold weather and clear skies make sure that people have undisturbed sessions of ice-skating. The sessions take place every day, twice a day in morning and evening. The rink also provides membership on short and long term basis. Basic equipments like skates, cap, kneepads etc. are available at the rink. The place comes alive with festivities, feasts, carnivals and colorful fancy dress competitions for children.

It is the time to enjoy the cold weather and indulge in not just sports but also sinful hogging!

PS- As i was recently updated by my frnd.. if u cant take a trip to shimla (like me) and happen to be living or coming to Delhi.... then you will be glad to knw recently iSKATE was inaugurated in Ambience mall, Gurgaon. You can sign up for a five-week course (which includes once-a-week, half-hour sessions in a group with an instructor and one-and-a-half hours on the rink) for Rs2,500. A 2-hour session on the rink (minus lessons) costs Rs300 on weekdays and Rs400 on weekends and includes ice skates. For children, you can hire a penguin-shaped skating aid for an additional Rs150.

In Search of My Dream Land

In search of my new land of dreams,
I set my sails open in seven seas.
Drawing in the tangy taste of air,
I hold my wheel of fortune with pride.

While the vastness and depths continue to surprise,
Anxiety starts slipping by.
What if’s and When? start to brood over,
As violent storm approaches near.

Voluminous tides sweep and throw me away,
Suffocated and tired I fall apart.
No more controlling the Wheel of fate,
Once I thought was under my name.

Lost and directionless in vast blue scape,
I try to find where i stand.
Slowly and eventually Sun shines and confusion subsides,
As I find compass of determination inside.
